In growing as a community, we offer different chances to learn throughout the year. Each year we try something new and each year we try to continue the successes of the past. Our religious and nursery schools are large and growing, and learning and socializing continue through high school and on through a College Connection.
Here is a sampling of the chances to grow as a Jew at TempleB'Nai Or. Once a year we hold a full Scholar-in-Residence weekend. At least one Saturday morning every month, the Bagels and Torah group meets with Rabbi Rossoff in his study to, well, eat bagels and study Torah. Every Sunday, Associate Rabbi Mary Zamore teaches a class on the human dimensions of Judaism called D'Menschens. A Book Club meets informally in members' homes and the Sisterhood holds regular study sessions. Men's Club sponsors Breakfasts with guest speakers to address topics of interest for the whole community.
There are year-long programs for those who wish to pursue a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as an adult. Temple B'Nai Or also hosts the regional "Introduction to Judaism" class for those new to Judaism or for anyone who just wants to learn and discuss the basics. Around the High Holy Days every year there is an intensive, introductory "Hebrew Marathon" weekend.
